Floyd Cramer taught himself how to play the piano growing up in Arkansas. He got his start in Country Music appearing on the Louisiana Hayride in Shreveport. In 1952 he moved to Nashville where he played piano for most of the top starts of Country Music. Once established as one of the best piano players in the music industry he crossed over and became well known in the Rock and Roll Industry, playing for such stars as Elvis and Roy Orbison. Floyd Cramer was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003. Floyd Cramer is buried in the Spring Hill Cemetery in Nashville, Tennessee.

Floyd Cramer was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on October 27, 1933 an was one of the founders of what is today known as “The Nashville Sound.” He grew up in Huttig, Arkansas where he taught himself to play the piano. When he graduated from high school he returned to Shreveport where he played piano on the Louisiana Hayride. He left the Hayride in 1952 and made his way to Nashville where he would become one of the most accomplished piano players in Country Music. During his long career he played piano for such country music stars as Patsy Cline, Jim Reeves, Roy Orbison, Elvis Presley and Don Gibson. Floyd Cramer was one of Nashville’s most respected performers, making several instrumental records with Chet Atkins and Boots Randolph. In 2003, Floyd Cramer was inducted posthumously in to both the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. On December 31, 1997, Floyd Cramer lost his battle with cancer and is buried in Nashville’s Spring Hill Cemetery.
