The Wayne Post Office building is located on the west side of Newberry Street, between Michigan Avenue West (US-12) and Michigan Avenue East (US-12). Actual address: 3716 Newberry Street

The post office was built in 1938, and was dedicated on June 30, 1938 (see dedication envelope photo below). It replaced an older postal facility which was approximately 1/4 mile south of the present location, on the same side of the street (see older photo below).

This new post office, circa 1938, served not only the community of Wayne, which was a Village up until July 1, 1960, when it became the City of Wayne, but also the Townships of Nankin (now the City of Westland - 48185-48186 and parts of the Township of Romulus (now the City of Romulus) 48174.

Even just adding in the population of the area can give others an idea of how many people this post office serves. This description should be at least three sentences.

If your Post Office has any unusual or unique features that you feel others would enjoy viewing, additional pictures are always welcome.
Including your gps device in the picture is not necessary, but wouldn't be cause for disapproval, as long as all other details of your log are acceptable.
