7 foot tall bronze statue of a coal miner as an honor to coal miners everywhere. It sits at the top of the walkway into the Quecreek mine rescue site. Quecreek mine is where 9 miners in the process of mining, broke through the mine wall into an adjacent mine that was floded. Water then began to rush into Quecreek Mine. This disaster has a happy endding when 9 miners were rescued all alive.
