This location marks the site where Jessie James and his "gang" robbed Missouri-Pacific train #4 on July 7, 1876. This robbery netted the gang more than $20,000 (about $354,000 adjusted for inflation), and is one of the more famous train robberies in U.S. history. After the robbery the James Gang traveled approximately 1 mile south to Flat Creek to divvy up the money.
