This is another small rural are with its own post office. It is about 4 miles north of Marietta, SC.
These two small towns being so close together has given me a lot of pleasure. We live in Marietta, SC. When people ask me where we live, I of course tell them "Marietta". They proceed to ask "Georgia?". When I tell them no, South Carolina, they never fail to ask where Marietta, SC is. Even most people who live in the region don't know where Marietta is. My reply to these people is that it's just about 4 miles south of Cleveland. They really stick their feet in their mouths then - "Ohio?". I should carry around stupid signs like Bill Engvall just for the people who think South Carolina is within 5 miles of Ohio.
There are some beautiful views of the mountains along US276 in SC. Three out of the five post offices I have posted so far are on US276. These are Cleveland, Marietta, and Travelers Rest. The Slater post office is about 1/2 a mile off of US276.
