Scouts looking for more adventure will enjoy weekend camping at Cole Canoe Base. The camp is located approximately three hours north of the City of Detroit, near Alger, Michigan. Nestled next to the beautiful Rifle River, Cole Canoe Base offers campers an opportunity to canoe from the second weekend in April through the last weekend in October. The Canoe Base is for Boy Scout Troops, Venture Crews, and Explorer Posts. During the winter months Cole's winterized White Pines Cabin is open for rental.

Cole Canoe Base, an outstanding Detroit Area Council camp, is situated on more than 1,300 beautifully wooded acres. Cole offers medium to high adventure canoeing as well as our outstanding traditional in-camp programs. All of our activities are planned and individually tailored to meet the requirements and expectations of each new or experienced unit camping at Cole.

To guarantee your camping adventure, Cole Canoe Base and it's dedicated program specialists offer a memorable summer program, which includes features such as the Broken Paddle Trail, the 50 miler, our Low Impact No Trace Camping, the Canoe Training Program, Archery, Rifle and Shotgun ranges, River Rat Rodeo, Eco/Con Live, Rump Bumping, Beast Feast, Paul Bunyan Lumber Jack Event, the Fabulous Ice Cream Social, Wildlife Encounter, Outdoor Adventure, and Indian Village.
