RECOVERY NOTE BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1967 (ELH) THE STATION MARK, REFERENCE MARKS NO. 2 AND NO. 3 AND THE AZIMUTH MARK WERE RECOVERED IN GOOD CONDITION. REFERENCE MARK NO. 2 MAY BE DESTROYED IN THE NEAR FUTURE. REFERENCE MARK NO. 4 WAS ESTABLISHED AT THIS TIME. FOLLOWING IS A NEW AND COMPLETE DESCRIPTION. THE STATION IS LOCATED ABOUT 8.5 MILES SOUTHEAST OF NEW CASTLE, 2 MILES EAST-SOUTHEAST OF PRINCETON AND ON THE TOP OF A WOODED HILL. THE PROPERTY IS OWNED BY MR. CHARLES KULINSKI. TO REACH THE STATION FROM THE POST OFFICE IN NEW CASTLE, GO SOUTH AND EAST ON U.S. HIGHWAY 422 FOR 7 MILES TO A CROSSROAD AND SIGN PRINCETON 1, TURN RIGHT AND GO SOUTH ON THE PAVED ROAD FOR 0.8 MILE TO A SIDE ROAD RIGHT, TURN RIGHT AND CONTINUE SOUTH ON THE PAVED ROAD FOR 2 MILES TO A CROSSROAD, TURN LEFT AND GO EAST ON THE PAVED ROAD FOR 0.5 MILE TO THE AZIMUTH MARK ON THE RIGHT, CONTINUE EAST ON THE PAVED AND GRAVEL ROAD FOR 0.5 MILE TO REFERENCE MARK NO. 2 ON THE RIGHT, TURN LEFT AND GO NORTH TO THE HIGHEST POINT OF HILL AND THE STATION. THE STATION MARK IS 21 FEET SOUTHWEST OF A 7-INCH HICKORY TREE, 9 FEET WEST OF A NORTH-SOUTH FENCE LINE AND 1.4 FEET WEST OF A METAL WITNESS POST. THE MARK IS A STANDARD DISK SET IN THE TOP OF A SQUARE CONCRETE POST SET FLUSH WITH THE GROUND AND IS STAMPED PRINCETON 1928. REFERENCE MARK NO. 2 IS 48 FEET SOUTH OF A POWERLINE POLE AND 18 FEET SOUTH OF THE APPROXIMATE CENTER OF THE GRAVELED ROAD. THE MARK IS A STANDARD DISK SET IN THE TOP OF A SQUARE CONCRETE POST PROJECTING 25 INCHES ON THE NORTH SIDE AND IS STAMPED PRINCETON NO 2 1928. REFERENCE MARK NO. 3 IS 61.7 FEET NORTH OF A METAL WITNESS POST AND 4 FEET WEST OF A NORTH-SOUTH FENCE LINE. THE MARK IS A STANDARD DISK SET IN THE TOP OF A SQUARE CONCRETE POST PROJECTING 4 INCHES AND IS STAMPED PRINCETON NO 3 1959. REFERENCE MARK NO. 4 IS 78 FEET WEST OF A NORTH-SOUTH FENCE LINE AND 1-FOOT NORTH OF A EAST-WEST FENCE LINE. THE MARK IS A STANDARD DISK SET IN THE TOP OF A SQUARE CONCRETE POST PROJECTING 2 INCHES AND IS STAMPED PRINCETON NO 4 1928 1967. THE AZIMUTH MARK IS 20 FEET SOUTH OF THE APPROXIMATE CENTER OF THE PAVED ROAD AND 0.9 FEET EAST OF A METAL WITNESS POST. THE MARK IS A STANDARD DISK SET IN THE TOP OF A SQUARE CONCRETE POST PROJECTING 8 INCHES AND IS STAMPED PRINCETON 1928 1935. AIRLINE DISTANCE AND DIRECTION FROM NEAREST TOWN- 2 MILES EAST-SOUTHEAST OF PRINCETON. HEIGHT OF LIGHT ABOVE STATION MARK 72.9 FEET.

From the post office in New Castle, go south and east on U.S. Business Route 422 and U.S. Route 422 for 7 miles to a crossroad. Turn right and go south on Mill Bridge Road for 0.9 mile to a side road right. Turn right and continue south on Shaffer Road for 2 miles to a crossroad. Turn left and go east on Fairview School Road for 0.5 mile to the azimuth mark on the right.
