The Kent State Massacre on May 4, 1970 made news worldwide because National Guardsmen fired upon anti-war demonstrators at the University. A bullet hole remains in this sculpture in front of Taylor Hall, where the shootings occurred. It has been rumored that the bullet hole eludes to the fact that a sniper from a location other than where the National Guardsmen were firing fired at least one shot. Four people died that day.
