At the posted coordinates one can see two natural arches; one to the east and one to the west. While it is not forbidden to leave the trail to get to either arch, it is recommended that you stay on the trail. To access the arch in the rocks to the east, some rock climbing is necessary. Unfortunately, rock climbing is not allowed in this park. The exact dimensions of the arches are unknown. However, they are both large enough for an adult human to crawl through easily.

The arches have formed in a sandstone called the Fountain Formation. This layer of rocks was formed 300 million years ago. Subsequently, these rocks were uplifted 14,000 feet along the Golden Fault. Over time, the rocks in this formation and the surrounding formations have eroded to form the hogbacks found in this park. It was during this erosional process that these arches were formed.
