The original Parkside Candy was the location of two different scenes from the Robert Redford movie "The Natural."

After a long period of absence, Roy Hobbs, played by Robert Redford, is signed by the New York Knights. The coach refuses to play him saying he's too old. Eventually due to a death on the team, Hobbs is put in the lineup and becomes a phenom.
The first time Parkside Candy appears in the movie, an exterior shot is shown, followed by an interior shot of Iris Gaines (played by Glenn Close). Gaines was Hobbs' boyhood love, and while having some coffee, learns of Hobbs' recent success.
Later on in the movie, Hobbs and Gaines meet up again at Parkside Candy and have a lemonade together. Gaines quickly realizes this isn't the right thing to do, and leaves the store and hops in a cab. Hobbs chases after her outside while Gaines speeds away.
This location of Parkside Candy closed many years ago, but had reopened in a different location further north on Main Street. Currently, the building is empty.
