There has been quite the talk about which monument is the The "OFFICIAL"TRI State Marker.
There are 2 located here.
GG0683 AND GG0688.

It is also the point where most people begin their search for the Joplin Spook Lights that have it's legends in this area.

1/1/1935 by CGS (MONUMENTED)
DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1935 TO REACH THE STATION FROM THE JUNCTION OF U.S. HIGHWAYS 66 AND 166 IN BAXTER SPRINGS, GO EAST ON HIGHWAY 166 FOR 7.3 MILES TO THE MISSOURI STATE LINE AND A GRAVELED CROSS ROAD. TURN RIGHT AND GO SOUTH ON THE GRAVELED ROAD FOR 0.35 MILE TO A BOUNDRY MARKER ON THE RIGHT. THE BOUNDRY MONUMENT IS MADE OF ROCK WITH A ROUND CONCRETE TOP. IT HAS A BRASS PLATE ON THE SOUTH SIDE WITH THE INSCRIPTION OKLAHOMA 1907 AND A BRASS PLATE ON THE NORTH SIDE WITH THE INSCRIPTION KANSAS 18 STATE CORNERS 50 FEET EAST OF CENTER OF MONUMENT. THE POINT HELD BY THIS PARTY WAS THE CENTER OF THE CONCRETE TOP OF THE MONUMENT.
