The Colonial Revival styled city hall was built in 1923. The building was the part largest municipal building project to date for the city. The building was built as a multi-function building and included city government offices, the Chamber of Commerce, the police department and also jails cells to accommodate 18 prisoners.
The building continues to serve as the Virginia City Hall and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.
