Barrackville Covered bridge was built in 1853 by builders Eli and Lemuel Chenoweth. The bridge crosses Buffalo Creek, and is 145 feet in length.
The bridge construction is modified Burr Truss and its West Virginia bridge number is 48-24-02.
Barrackville Covered Bridge was restored in 1999, and its color was changed from white to red. Today the bridge is open to foot-traffic only.
