The paths to Rossett Gill and Stake Pass separate here, once across this bridge, on west side. Stake Pass is on the Cumbria Way, whereas Rossett Gill leads to Bowfell, Crinkle Crags and further on the Scafells. The more popular route.
Bridge is made from wooden spars laid on supporting stones. The path is a jumble of rocks immediately on either side of the bridge. Although described as a bridleway you would be carrying you bicycle by now, and will continue carrying for at least a further 7 kms. Further down the valley the track is rideable on loose small stones. Large rocks soon inundate the path where the stream comes close to the path.
