Those two arrows were once the trademark of Twin Arrows Trading Post. They can be seen for miles and make you expect something great at this place. Sadly, it is just a ruin. We always thought ghost towns are a thing of the past, but on a 2006 trip along Route 66 we found many sad signs of recently abandoned places. This one in Arizona is mentioned as a roadside attraction at Roadside America, but has been shut down now. As far as we could find out, the opening of a giant trading post (Meteor City) just up the road lead to the closure of this one in about 2001. We don't know the precise date but it must have happened when gas was $1.36/gallon.

All that is left now are the two giant arrows, and from the state of it, they will be gone soon.
