At the Ohio State Fairgrounds, there is a flat stone memorial with a depiction of a carnival horse, the Ohio state seal, a winged wheel, and a plow all surrounding an outline of the state of Ohio with an inscription that reads: "To commemorate the founding of the Ohio State Fair in June 1845 and its history during our nation's bicentennial era." The stone denotes the site of the Ohio State Fair bicentennial time capsule interred during the festivities of the fair on September 6, 1976, by Ohio Expositions Commission to be opened during the festivities of the fair in the year 2026. The time capsule holds treasures of the times from the Ohio State Fair, Ohio sports teams, coins and stamps, a T-shirt, Levis, and tennis shoes.
