Although adults will enjoy this 24-acre park, set along palm-lined Town Resaca, it was designed mainly for children - playground equipment is everywhere; sculptures of children dot the landscape; and there’s a pool and children’s museum.

Across from the zoo, Porter Park is Brownsville’s most intensely developed park. A handful of civic buildings - the Camille Playhouse, a Civic Center, the Children’s Museum and the Costumes of the Americas Museum - are built along Town Resaca. From the buildings a lighted boardwalk with picnic tables lines the shore, perfect for fishing. The park also holds Sam’s Memorial Pool, with a cool fountain area; a couple of playgrounds, including one with a Spanish galleon; a fitness trail; and two picnic pavilions.
