This life-size sculpture of a gray whale family features the largest bronze whale in the world. The mother is a full 40 feet tall, as high as the aquarium building itself. Her 16-foot calf is alongside, the two of them rising from a fountain specially designed to replicate a dramatic splash. In an adjacent pool are the 10-foot wide tail flukes of a third whale, depicted as it dives. Better than any book or video, the life-size whales offer visitors an immediate sense of scale for these ocean giants.
