This massive, soaring Prairie house dominates its corner lot. It is full of interesting planes, angles and details including a prow and adjacent three-story tower with three narrow bands of vertical windows. This tower is reminiscent of the Heller and Rollin Furbeck houses and foreshadows the Millard textile-block (visit link) and Richard Lloyd Jones Usonian (visit link) houses. Fricke moved out after only five years either due to marital problems (O'Gorman, p. 129) or he died (Heinz, 2005, p. 313).

Emma Martin purchased the home in 1906 and added a garage complete with second story room and hearth in 1907.

The Fricke House is clearly visible the sidewalk on both Iowa Street and Fair Oaks Avenue.
