This is a State Highway Commission benchmark with the following stamped on it:State Highway Comm. Benchmark,S6(4),EL.4003.86.To get to this benchmark from Helena,go east out of town on Hwy.12 until you reach the flashing light which is the turnoff to Spokane Creek Road/Hwy.284.This is approximately 10 miles from Helena.Turn left here and go 23 miles on this highway.The benchmark is located between mile marker 23 and mile marker 24.It is 30 feet west of the west edge of the road and 5 feet east of a fence.It is set in the top of a 3ft. tall concrete post.
