One of Fort Pitt's outworks, this blockhouse or redoubt stood near the western bastions and is the only surviving structure of that fort. Built in 1764 by Col. Henry Bouquet.
The marker is near the road, with a group of other markers. To see the blockhouse and museum, walk into the park to N40° 26.468', W080° 00.581. The blockhouse is the oldest surviving building in downtown Pittsburgh.
