Construction on North Mountain Lookout was completed in 1966. The lookout is still used during emergency situations.
You can drive with a mile of good road to the lookout. The rest of the way has been closed to help prevent vandalism. You can walk the last mile of the road right up to the lookout.
Access the lookout via North Mountain Road, the road should bring you past the White Horse Community Park. Trust me on this, your auto routing is wrong! It will take you on very poor logging roads, this way will take you on a partially paved road, do not take any left or rights just keep going straight, until you get to a gate, park and then walk to the lookout.
