Lincoln died here at age 56. The building is maintained by the National Park Service as part of the Ford Theater National Historic Site. Although the furniture isn’t original, the room in which Lincoln died is in much the same condition as it was in 1865. The bed on which Lincoln died is at the Chicago Historical Society. The Ford Theater is closed for remodeling, but Petersen’s Boarding House remains open.
