I can't even begin to relate Cy Young's life and baseball career. The wikipedia entry is here: (visit link) .

At this location, the home plate plaque nearby relates how Cy Young had led the Boston Pilgrims (now the Red Sox) to victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates in the first American League vs. National League World Series playoffs. In addition to the plaque and the statue, there is a sign that relates the story (with pictures) nearby.

The statue is located in a courtyard amongst buildings within Northeastern University. The best access is from Forsyth Street.
