The bell was cast by Henry McSchane & Company in 1880 (Baltimore, MD). This bell was hung in the 3rd Courthouse which collapsed in 1907. The present courthouse started construction that same year.
Text on the bell reads:

BY
J.W. TINDER, PREST. COMISSION
W.H. NICHOLS CO. AUDITOR
HENDRICKS COUNTY COURT HOUSE
DANVILLE.IND.
