Created in 1932 as a formal, classical garden, Bartholdi Park is a shady place to relax amongst the flowers and listen to the water flowing in Bartholdi Fountain. You’ll see office workers bringing their cafeteria food here for lunch. Although part of the U.S. Botanical Gardens across the street, and under the jurisdiction of the Architect of the Capitol, for all practical purposes this is a city park. There’s no restricted entry, and the park is open daily from sunrise to sunset.
