Ed Waldmire Jr. started his business after being honorably discharged in 1946. He had seen a hot dog baked in cornbread in Muskogee, OK while in the service. It was good but took too long to prepare. So he fiddled with the batter and came up with what he called the "Crusty Cur". His wife didn't care for the name so after discarding dozens of names, they came up with the "Cozy Dog". The rest, as they say, is history.
Today it stands out as a shining jewel along Route 66, the Mother Road.
