Part of a row of historic markers describing the history of the military installations strategically located at "The Point" in downtown Pittsburgh, where the Allegheny and Monongahela Rivers meet to form the Ohio River. This Fort was never completed.

Name intended for fort begun here by Virginia force early in 1754 on site noted by Washington as "well situated for a Fort." Captured by the French, April 17, 1754, before its completion.
