This Standard 20 bunk hut is part of the North-West circuit which is an approx 10 day tramp of the North-Western area of Stewart Island. More info on this hike can be found at this link: (visit link)

The Hut has a fireplace, water catchment tank and toilets. Frequently it is used by hunters also who stay in the area after Stewart Islands Whitetail Deer.
It pays to pick your weather for this trip as the weather on this side of Stewart Island is more often than not blowing a gale and often accompanied with rain. Night-times and even daytimes can be fruitful in spotting kiwi walking around the sand-dunes and in the forest.
