The North Park area is the Moose viewing Capital of Colorado and the Colorado State Forest Visitor center is named for this stately animal. An interesting sculpture of a moose stands by the entrance.
Here you can obtain detailed information about recreational facilities in the surrounding State Park, a 71,000 acre expanse of forest, mountain peaks and alpine lakes which stretches along the west side of the Medicine Bow and Never Summer ranges.
The center has a number of displays about the wildlife and history of the area. There's a large three dimensional model of the park. A gift shop offers souvenirs and a large selection of books. Be sure to check the bird feeders on the back patio.
Information is also available about geocaches in the area which have been placed by the park. GPS units can be rented here.
Hours of Operation: 9Am to 5PM
Public Washrooms: Mens and Womens Only
Snacks/Drinks at the facility: No - Look elsewhere
