Chester was born at his Grandpa's one-room log cabin Nov. 20, 1900 and started drawing at the age of 7.
In 1931 he created Dick Tracy using many Pawnee characters in his cartoon. Mose Yellow Horse, only full blooded Native American to ever play Major League Baseball (1922 Pittsburgh Pirates) and strike out the famous Babe Ruth, was "Chief Yellow Pony"; Billy Whiskers, who had a shack on the banks of the Black Bear Creek was "B.O. Plenty".
