This sign is located at the Greaser Petroglyph north of Ore Hwy 140, 5 miles east of Adel.
Marker Name: Greaser Petroglyph
Marker Text: These designs are examples of Native American rock art. They are called petroglyphs. The exact meanings of the designs are not known. They may have been used in ceremonies, or as maps. Perhaps they marked tribal ownership or represented personal power.
Reconstruction was necessary to repair damage done by vandals. Altering designs by any means will ruin them and is a violation of law. Please help protect petroglyphs.
