The Falls at Seelel's pond divides Berkeley Heights and Scotch Plains, Union County, New Jersey,\07922.
They are on Diamond Hill Road, Berkeley Heights, NJ.
Edmund A Seeley was a business man who in the later l800's founded a paper manufacturing company and used the falls for power. It has been said that Gen. George Washington turned back the British forces at this spot, and it is known as Bloody Gulch or Bloody Gap during the battle in June 26, 1777.
It is said the American soldiers were carrying the first national American flag which was adopted by U. S. Congress on June l4, 1777 under the First Flag Act, and the new official Stars and Stripes flag was fired upon for the first time at this spot,
For many many years, these falls were the old swimming hole for young and old alike.
The first picture I took from a book, " Berkeley Heights, Revisited," by Virignia Troeger, and the second picture I just took today, Oct l0, 20054
The falls are pretty and there is a pond above the falls and a picnic area where you can eat, and also a pond to fish, so come see this very scenic area.
