This Plaque signifies the First Christian Baptism in Alta California. This plaque is found in the San Clemented Civic Center. The actual site is two miles away in Camp Pendleton. This plaque has been destoryed and a new marker has been placed at the Casa Romantica.

The plaque reads:

LA CRISTIANITA

Two miles inland from this point in Los Cristianitos Valley, the first Christian Baptism in Alta, California was performed by Padre Francisco Gomez, a member of the Potola Expedition in 1769.
