The downtown area of Wallace was rebuilt after an 1890 fire destroyed the area. Complete blocks of the downtown area are 1890's - 1900's buildings representing different styles including Renaissance, Late Victorian, Classical Revival and others. The buildings have been well maintained and restored. The community has a self guided walking tour through the downtown area and another through the residential area highlighting many of the historic buildings, information guide is available at the Norther Pacific Railroad Depot and Railroad Museum.
