These post with their attendant disks start just south of Winchester, VA at Kernstown. They run about 10 miles or so to just above Strasburg. Some are very close together as the ones in the pictures here, yet others are 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile apart. Their purpose is evidently to mark the water transmission line into or out of Winchester.
