Its location is the Hill of Santa Catalina, balcony to the Cantabrian Sea, the highest part of the Gijón city, defensive bastion turned zone of relaxation, from where great part of the city and harbour is contemplated.
It reaches ten meters of height and weight 500 tons. It is made in reinforced concrete from two pillars that act as supports of an open ellipse.
Initiated the works in 1989 it was unveiled the 9 of June of 1990.

Es una escultura de Eduardo Chillida (San Sebastián, 1924- 2002) de forma geométrica y abstracta, situada en el Cerro de Santa Catalina, la parte más alta de la ciudad de Gijón, baluarte defensivo convertido en zona de esparcimiento, desde donde se contempla el puerto deportivo y gran parte de la ciudad.
Alcanza diez metros de altura y pesa 500 toneladas. Está realizado en hormigón armado a partir de dos pilares que actúan como soportes de una elipse abierta.
Inaugurado el 9 de junio de 1990 habiéndose iniciado los trabajos en 1989.
