Between 1949 and 1951, the Boy Scouts of America erected 195 Little Sisters of Liberty in 39 states as part of their Strengthen the Arm of Liberty campaign. Each 8'4" copper replica of the Statue of Liberty was made in Chicago, weighing 290 pounds and costing $350 plus freight.
Toledo's version was donated by the Block family, the owner's and publishers of the local newspaper.
