Here is the 220 foot Peters Cartridge shot tower located about 20 miles northeast of Cincinnati. The tower was built in 1917 to replace an earlier tower on the site (see photos). The Peters Cartridge Company operated from here from the 1860s through 1944, providing munitions from the Civil War through World War II. Morgan’s Raiders had targeted the plant during their raid, but made a wrong turn (I told you to bring extra batteries for the GPS, Billie Ray!) Vinyl records were also made here, as well as it being used for storage after the plant closed. It now stands mostly vacant, except for a few smaller tenants.
The site is heavily contaminated with lead and other contaminates from the former opearations. A bike trail runs beside the plant now, which is waymarked.
Interesting webpage found that has numerous photos of the property.

The current owner take a very dim view of trespassers, but you can still see a bunch of stuff around the perimeter.
I can't believe there is one of these in my backyard!
Kings Mills is pretty much a company town. The old mansion is on top of the hill. The area is developing with some upscale housing nearby.
There are a number of nearby caches that allow you to explore the area.
