The Hamburg Nike site opened in 1956 and was closed in 1961. It was a double site, meaning it could engage two targets at the same time. The site was originally stationed by D Battery, 465th Anti Aircraft Missile Battalion which was then redesignated in 1958 to D Battery, 2nd Missile Battalion, 62nd Artillery.
A few of the buildings and four radar towers still stand. The site is now occupied by the Town of Hamburg Recreation Center, which consists of an ice skating rink, several soccer and baseball fields, a remote control model airplane facility and a dirt bike track.
