The Dorothy Chandler Pavillion is the home of the Los Angeles Opera. With the current general director of Placido Domingo at the helm, the LA Opera current season includes 11 presentations.
When the Dorothy Chandler Pavillion first opened in 1964, it was the home of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. This role has since been passed to the Walt Disney Concert Hall, another hall in the Los Angeles Music Center. The pavillion hosted operatic productions from touring companies until 1984 when the LA Opera debuted with Verdi's Otello starring Plácido Domingo. For the 2007/2008 season, the LA Opera is once again staging Otello.
