Located in the former Houston Fire Station No. 7, the fire museum has two floors of exhibits detailing the history of fire fighting in Houston.

Downstairs, in the former garage, are a few horse-drawn fire trailers and three antique fire engines. Walls and display cases showcase the nuts-and-bolts of fire fighting. Upstairs, in the former living quarters, are more exhibits. The high-ceilinged, airy space (a must in the days before air-conditioning) has antique tools of the fire trade hanging from the walls, and the locker room makes creative use of glass-fronted lockers as display cases. It’s a small museum, good for killing an hour or so, and what kid doesn’t like fire engines?
