A formation of 5 Fokker CV-E aircraft was enroute from Dubendorf to Bellinzona, when it entered cloud over Muotatal. They lost contact with each other, became disorientated, and 4 of them crashed in the mountains. The fifth continued on to its destination, unaware of the disaster, and waited for the colleagues who never arrived.

The given coordinates take you to the monument commemorating the disaster, and listing the names of those killed.

Thanks for the text to Andrew Fraser who lives near the area.
