Farragut Naval Base, a large naval training facility on inland Lake Pend Orielle was in operation from 1941 to 1946 during World War II and this tower served the base hospital. It is still used by the nearby town of Bayview. After the base closed the area became Farragut State Park. A disc golf course now surround the tower area.
