The W. H. Smith Hardware Company has been in the Mid-Ohio Valley since 1874. The original building at 119 3rd Street is now the home of the Oil and Gas Museum of Parkersburg.
In 1976 Vint and Judy Rathbone purchased the W. H. Smith Hardware Company, and and in 1978 relocated to another part of Parkersburg.
