The remains of this windmill sit on the summit of Parys mountain. For many years Parys Mountain was one of the largest Copper mines in the UK and supplied copper cladding for the hulls of British navy ships. The windmill was built in 1878 and was the source of power for pumping water out of the cairn's engine shaft, crushing extracted copper ore and transporting workers.

The windmill now sits in a desolate alien like landscape of red, orange and yellow rocks and purple heather.
