The Sunset Lodge was built in 1931 at the Sunrise area of Mt. Rainier National Park. It was never fully completed. The section that was finished is used as the Ranger Station and a cafeteria and gift shop.

This building was originally planned as a large hotel, but due to financial difficulties only this section, a quarter of the original plan, was constructed to serve primarily as a cafeteria for park visitors and a dormitory for park employees. The building still functions as such today. Other than fire safety devices being installed and a few remodels to dorm rooms, the building's exterior and interior remain the same as when first built in 1931.
