DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1958 (JEG) STATION IS LOCATED ON TOP OF A SMALL HILL WHICH IS ABOUT 2 MILES EAST OF WEST MIDDLESEX, 1-1/2 MILES EAST OF THE SHENANGO RIVER, ON PROPERTY OWNED BY MR. T. WALKER. STATION IS REACHED FROM THE JUNCTION OF STATE HIGHWAYS 318 AND 18 IN WEST MIDDLESEX BY GOING EAST ON HIGHWAY 318 FOR 1.2 MILES, TURN RIGHT AT THE CROSSROADS AND FOLLOW A MACADAM ROAD SOUTH FOR 0.88 MILE, HOME OF MR. T. WALKER ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE OF THE ROAD, CONTINUE STRAIGHT AHEAD, SOUTH ON THE MACADAM ROAD FOR 0.3 MILE TO THE AZIMUTH MARK ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE OF THE ROAD AND ON ROAD RIGHT-OF-WAY, TURN LEFT AT THE DRIVEWAY OF MR. T. WALKER AND FOLLOW THE DRIVEWAY AND A TRACK ROAD ACROSS THE YARD TO THE SOUTHEAST EDGE OF THE YARD, THENCE EAST THROUGH A FIELD AND UP-HILL TO THE TOP OF A SMALL HILL, TURN LEFT AND GO NORTH DOWN A SLIGHT SLOPE FOR ABOUT 110 FEET TO A TIMBER LINE AND THE STATION MARK IN THE SOUTH EDGE OF THE TIMBER. STATION MARK IS A STANDARD DISK, STAMPED MITCHELL 2 1958, SET IN THE TOP OF A SQUARE CONCRETE MONUMENT WHICH PROJECTS 2 INCHES. IT IS SET IN THE SOUTH EDGE OF A LINE OF TREES. REFERENCE MARK NUMBER 3 IS A STANDARD DISK, STAMPED MITCHELL 2 NO 3 1958, SET IN THE TOP OF A SQUARE CONCRETE MONUMENT WHICH PROJECTS 1 INCH. IT IS ABOUT 111 FEET SOUTH OF THE LINE OF TREES. REFERENCE MARK NUMBER 4 IS A STANDARD DISK, STAMPED MITCHELL 2 NO 4 1958, SET IN THE TOP OF OUTCROPPING BEDROCK WHICH IS FLUSH WITH THE GROUND SURFACE. IT IS ABOUT 122 FEET SOUTH OF THE TREE LINE. AZIMUTH MARK IS A STANDARD DISK, STAMPED MITCHELL 2 1958, SET IN THE TOP OF A SQUARE CONCRETE MONUMENT WHICH IS FLUSH WITH THE GROUND SURFACE. IT IS ABOUT 23 FEET NORTH-NORTHEAST OF A MACADAM ROAD, 2 FEET WEST OF A POWERLINE POLE, 1 FOOT NORTH-NORTHWEST OF A FENCE, 32 FEET WEST-NORTHWEST OF A FENCE CORNER, 72 FEET WEST-NORTHWEST OF A GRAVELED ROAD. A STANDARD METAL WITNESS POST WAS SET 1 FOOT EAST OF THE MARK. STATION MITCHELL (PGS) 1937 WAS DESTROYED BECAUSE THE PROPERTY ON WHICH THE STATION WAS LOCATED WILL BE SUB-DIVIDED AND DEVELOPED IN THE NEAR FUTURE.

To reach the mark from the junction of State Highways 18 and 318 in West Middlesex, go east on Highway 318 for 1.2 miles to a crossroads. Turn right and go south on Mitchell Road for 1.18 miles to the azimuth mark on the left. It is 81 feet north of the centerline of Minner Road, 23 feet east of the centerline of Mitchell Road, and 6.0 feet north of Pole 603-36.
