Marker places by St. Charles South Main Street Preservation Society.

Part of what is known as Stone Row. Part of a most unusual piece of architecture #'s 314, 316, 318 and 320. as there are no divisions between the houses. The stone chimneys were joined for added support. The Burlington limestone used to build these buildings was quarried on the location. The builder was a devout Scotch-Irish Presbyterian named Thomas Lindsey (1771-1843) who used his thirty-one slaves as builders. When Lindsey died, his instructions, which were carried out, were to return them to Libya.
