This monument honors Sailors and Marines who served aboard the U.S.S. Coral Sea in combat and Citadel men who served in the Navy and Marine Corps. The Vessel was awarded the Navy Unit commendation and nine battle stars for operations in the Asiatic-Pacific theatre during World War II.
